When mobile phones first emerged, like there is today, a battle was fought for supremacy. For some time, the Nokia 3210 reigned with its design, great battery life and even a game (snake) built in.

25 years later – with a modern redesign, the Nokia 3210 is back with perfect timing!

Brenden Folitarik, Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said:

โ€œAt HMD, we’re all about blending the best of both worlds, the convenience of smartphones and the sheer fun of unplugging! We are excited to re-introduce the iconic Nokia 3210 to a new generation! It’s not just a phone; it’s a time capsule of fun! With this blast from the past, say goodbye to screen time stress and hello to being in the moment.โ€

Priced at just $129.00 and available in Scuba Blue, Y2K Gold, and Grunge Black from the usual retail outlets (JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Big W, Amazon, and Harvey Norman), it’s sure to sell well in circles where people are starting to care about disconnecting.

Lars Silberbauer, CMO of Human Mobile Devices (HMD), said:

โ€œThe Nokia 3210, a cultural icon, is back at the pinnacle of global dumbphone boom as consumers look to balance their screen time usage with a digital detox. The Nokia 3210 has simplicity at its core, allowing consumers to be totally present. Forget dumbphone, this is 2024โ€™s fun phone.โ€

As the top of the newly released “dumb” phones for HMD, the Nokia 3210 will certainly stir some nostalgia as a feature phone. Updated for the 4G networks (just in time for the 3G shutdown), the 3210 brings the iconic design back with the basics: A 2MP camera (inc a flash and torch) and a 1,450mAh battery that will last a long time without all those power-hungry features and apps sucking the life out of it.

Oh, and it’s still got snake tooโ€ฆ
Even though it’s only for weekends, I’ll be getting one to disconnect from some of the constant notifications that I get through the week.

Adding to the Nokia 3210 (honestly, why would you look further if you want a feature phone?) there are three other devices:

  • The Nokia 215 – RRP AU$79.00 – is available in Meteor Grey and Peach
  • The Nokia 225 – RRP AU$99.00 – is available in Dark Blue and Pink
  • The Nokia 235 – RRP AU$109.00 – is available in Black, Purple and Blue

All three devices are 4G VoLTE compatible, through JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Big W and Amazon (check retailer availability) now.

Whilst I love the idea of a feature phone, I suspect there is an opportunity for a similar device only with a great camera (not one that belongs in 2010) and maps.
